Chapter 19: Louis Comfort Tiffany was an American glass designer who was influenced by the Art Nouveau style. He invented the process of making glass opalescent which he called Favrile. He got the name Favrile from an old English word, Fabrile, which means 'hand-crafted'. He changed the name to Favrile because it sounded better and recieved a patent in 1894.:
